Sure your wondering at least two things at this point
1) who am i?
and
2) why should you want to read this blog?
Well to start, I'm Dorian Pratt.
Can't say I've always been Dorian, but in Essence he is all i've ever wanted to be.
He's a good student, outgoing, creative, athletic, ambitious, good looking, well dressed and groomed, self sufficient, and confident about the direction his life is headed.
And unwilling to settle for less.
this is not to say that I wasn't any of these things before. Traits like these just don't come out of nowhere.
i just believe that there's power in a name and what you call something has the power to determine the life course of it.
think about it. there's lots of studies and arguments about giving your kids ghetto names and how it will affect there ability to get employment. And Foreigners are often encouraged to take at least an "American" first name to ease there assimilation. To me it seems that a name has the power to dictate the trajectory of life on some level.
so what happens to the kid who has the same name as at least 3 other people in his classroom most there adolescence? Logic tells me he would want to blend in so as to not have the awkwardness of 4 people responding when his name is called. Or at the least this is a strong reminder that he is in no way unique.
or thats me just justifying my response to that experience.
WHY SHOULD YOU READ THIS?
because this shit is hella interesting!!!
people eat this epic struggle-coming of age-shit up!
